-#occupytollgate protest: Comedian Mr. Macaroni narrates his experience after his arrest
Nigerian comedian Debo Macaroni popularly known as Mr. Macaroni with a swollen face has narrated his experience with the Nigerian police after being arrested at lekki toll gate yesterday, Saturday, February 13 with other protesters for the #occupytollgate protest in a post he made on his Instagram page today February 14.
According to Mr. Macaroni, he didn’t want to go for the protest as he got calls from family and friends warning him not to protest. I knew people would have died if words didn’t go out because no one would have known about their whereabout he said.
He said it is not time to criticize anyone including celebrities because they are scared of their life as he is, we are in a country where the government has zero concern for human lives, they’ll kill anybody or dehumanize anybody just to achieve their aim he said,
He confirmed by saying while in detention, the Nigerian police kept on saying that if it was at night they would have shot at them and all of them would have died.
He said after the arrest, himself and other protesters were beaten and stripped naked. He is still recovering from his bruises as he is currently on medication.
He appreciated the 39 protesters who were out for the protest, saying they are the real heroes and they were the reason he went for the protest. He also requested the list of their names.
He also stated that he didn’t collect money from Atiku or others, he proved himself by trying to lay curses even though he doesn’t believe in curses.
He is appreciative to lawyers, everyone who contributed to his release.
