ASUU STRIKE: Minister of Education urges students to sue ASUU for wasted time

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, not the Federal Government, is on the duty of compensating students for the time missed during the six-month strike, according to Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, who made this statement on Thursday.

He added that the union’s demand that lecturers be paid for the six months during which they were not actively involved in academic activity would not be granted by the government.

Adamu recommended the aggrieved students “take ASUU to court” in an effort to recover losses incurred as a result of the strike.

According to Punch, the Minister of Education made this statement during the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja’s 47th State House Ministerial Briefing, which was organized by the Presidential Communications Team.

He maintains that the federal government is not responsible for paying millions of students who were suspended for six months for wasted time.

He added that the students should sue ASUU if they are determined to receive compensation.
