The Bauchi State NYSC Coordinator, Alhaji Namadi Abubakar, announced on Thursday that four members of the 2021 Batch C stream 1 will repeat their service year in the state.
This was said by Abubakar in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, where corps members were receiving their release certificates.
He stated that the impacted corps members were sanctioned for a variety of offenses, including abscondment and absenteeism, throughout their service year.
Abubakar emphasized that the program has a zero-tolerance policy for truancy and will not hesitate to punish any erring corps member.
He also stated that 27 others’ service years will be extended for at least three weeks owing to various misconducts throughout their service year.
According to him, five of the 1,151 corps members who graduated will get the state honor award for their outstanding contribution to improving the living circumstances in their host communities.
He went on to note that, in keeping with the scheme’s goal of contributing to the country’s growth, a big number of corps medical personnel were assigned to Bauchi state’s rural regions.
He claimed that under the scheme’s Health Initiative for Remote Dwellers, the corps medical staff assisted thousands of people in rural areas across the state (HIRD).
“I will like to urge the outgoing corps members to continue to be good ambassadors of the scheme and also maximise the skills acquisition and entrepreneurship learnt during their service year.”
