The GOC cautions troops against partisanship 2023 Elections

As the nation prepared for the general election in 2023, Maj.-Gen. Aminu Chinade, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division Nigerian Army, issued a warning to officers and soldiers of the command.

The GOC issued the warning on Tuesday during a familiarization visit to Nigerian Army Headquarters 4 Brigade in Benin.

“Remain apolitical in order not to dent your career; whenever you are called upon during the election, you should remain neutral and apolitical.

“Maintain your professional ethics and shun any act of partisanship in the discharge of your duties,” he said.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the GOC, who took office on August 12, stated that the visit was to familiarize himself with all of the units under his command.

He thanked the Brigade’s commanders and troops for their exemplary behavior and professionalism and conveyed the best wishes of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya.

“I want to commend you for your commitment and dedication from the brief report I got even before coming, I am encouraged with your behaviour.

“I also want to employ you to work closely with the host community, with a view to contribute to the security of the state and provide enabling environment, especially in this election period,” Chinade said.
